The next session of 12 Shiny Nickels standup comedy classes will begin on Sunday March 14th. 

The 12 Shiny Nickels standup classes are different and better than any other offered in the city for many reasons. Here are just a few: 

- Our classes offer actual practical instruction on how to become a competent standup comedian. Not a bunch of touchy-feely, new age, wannabe life coach bullcrap and pie-in-the-sky promises of opening for Vegas headliners after your first three months on stage. 

- Our classes are taught by actual working standup comedians who are still actively performing at A-list clubs and shows around town as well as clubs and colleges around the country. Not people who gave up on performing 10 or 15 years ago and are now just trying to rake in cash from novices. 

- Our students don’t get just one teacher’s point of view. In addition to structured classroom instruction we also have a different guest comedian come in each week to share their experiences, expertise and techniques with our students. All of our guest lecturers are professional comedians who have performed standup recently on television and at major festivals. 

- Our students receive something no other standup comedy classes offer - real world standup comedy experience. Throughout our four-week course our instructors take our students out a minimum of twice a week to actual standup comedy shows, ranging from open mics to professional booked shows at clubs, to perform and/or observe live standup comedy. Our students receive live instruction three days a week instead of just one for the same price or less than other classes. 

- Our students not only learn how to write and perform jokes but also learn how to avoid the pitfalls and scams to which new comics are often exposed. Our students learn what “bringer shows” are and how to avoid them, why they should never pay to audition for any festival or performance opportunity, and how to get booked on comedy shows politely and without being a nuisance and annoying show bookers. 

Classes will take place on Sundays from 2pm to 6pm for four weeks in a row and will culminate in a standup comedy showcase the following Sunday evening featuring all of the students from the class and a guest headliner. 

Tuition for our four-week course is only $300 with a $100 deposit due no later than Monday March 8th to secure a spot in the class. This is a superb deal considering that you not only get four hours of lecture per week but also in the field instruction at least twice a week during the course.
